Reviews

This is a must for people who want to live and retire in France, it's culture and life style are a thing of the past when times were slower and we enjoyed life." - Mrs M Palmer, Amazon

Although not planning retirement in France just yet I found the book useful and informative. Only downside of course is that it was written as the world financial collapse was beginning in 2008. Much has changed and we are still in a Eurozone crisis. Have read other books by the author - perhaps an updated Kindle version for 2012, or at least a supplement wold be of value to readers. - David P. McManus, Amazon

What a wonderful book, very much enjoyed reading it and found it helpful. If like me your looking for interesting and informative background reading, then this is one of the better ones. - C. Antjoule, Amazon

In this book "Retiring in France", David Hampshire gave extremely helpful information and guidance regarding the various rules, regulations and the complex bureaucracy in France. I will be retiring in south France soon, and I needed all the guidance I could get regarding bringing an automobile and other household items, Visa and residency requirements, Taxation, Health care, Insurance, etc. The book starts with discussing the advantages and disadvantages of retiring in France, pre-preparation; getting there: all you need to know to get your belongings there with immigration requirements and customs rules and regulations; all you need to know about renting or buying a home; all you need to know about day to day living in France, and finally, what to do if you need to move back home. I've found this book to be very helpful and contain very valuable, up to date info and thorough answers to all the questions I have so far; it's going to be my reference for a long time to come. Well worth the price. - Sarwat Ezzeldin, Amazon

I found this book to be an excellent, comprehensive introduction to France for those thinking about living in France. We just returned from 9 days driving through Auverge and Burgundy, both of which have poor and wealthy areas, and the information was helpful, although some greater use of French terms would be useful. Well worth reading. - Phil, Amazon

We have retired to France and are loving it here. We recommend reading and following the advice and OFII information exactly for a pleasant experience. Invaluable knowledge. - Joseph Millikan, Amazon
