Survival Books was established in 1987 and by the mid-’90s was the leading publisher of books for expats and migrants planning to live, work, buy property and retire abroad.
We are passionate about providing readers with the essential information necessary for a trouble-free life or property purchase abroad, while at the same time saving them time and money. Our philosophy has always been to provide the most accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date information as possible.
Our titles routinely contain up to twice as much information as most ‘similar’ books and are updated more frequently. Most of our books contain colour photographs and many are in full colour – we are currently converting all our books to colour. Survival Books also contain original cartoons, illustrations and colour maps.
Survival Books are written by experts in their fields with first-hand experience of the countries and the people they describe, either as residents, former residents or frequent visitors, ably assisted by a host of local researchers. They provide invaluable insights into how a country ‘works’ that cannot be obtained from official publications or websites, and information that is more comprehensive, reliable and objective than that provided by the majority of official and unofficial websites.
Survival Books are designed to be easy – and interesting – to read. They contain a comprehensive list of contents and index, copious cross-references, and extensive appendices, including useful addresses, further reading, useful websites and glossaries to help you obtain additional information, plus metric conversion tables and other useful reference material.
